Erkoç–Ospa’s Approach: Achieving Perfect Harmony from Design to Operation – The Erkoç–Ospa Model

In recent years, the pool industry has evolved beyond aesthetics and user comfort to focus on hydraulic precision, energy and water efficiency, sustainable material use, and long-term operating costs. Erkoç–Ospa leads this transformation as a brand that combines architectural freedom with technical accuracy, applying a disciplined engineering approach in both public and private projects. We spoke with ERKOÇ-OSPA CEO Ethem Erkoç and ERKOÇ-OSPA LTD. Founding Partner, Architect Nadire Erkoç, about modern pool project quality, the Erkoç–Ospa Model, sustainability, digitalization, and their vision for the pools of the future.
Ethem Erkoç emphasizes that the industry has moved beyond the “let’s just build a pool that works and looks nice” mindset: “Today, the industry has transformed into an integrated engineering field spanning architecture, hydraulics, energy, and operations. The technical impact of this shift is visible at every stage, from project design to implementation standards and operational processes.”
The Erkoç–Ospa Model bridges architectural design and engineering. Nadire Erkoç explains: “We adapt Ospa technologies to architectural design. Compact, modular, and high-efficiency systems provide flexibility for design, allowing us to maintain a solid balance between architectural freedom and technical requirements.” This model ensures that architects can design freely, engineers implement standards accurately, operators run systems cost-effectively, and users enjoy a high level of comfort.
Sustainability at Erkoç–Ospa is a three-dimensional concept: water conservation and optimized circulation, energy-efficient system design, and system longevity with operational efficiency. Ethem Erkoç elaborates: “Sustainability for us has three dimensions: (1) Water, (2) Energy, (3) System lifespan and operational efficiency. True sustainability cannot be achieved without optimizing all three.” This approach includes low-water filtration technologies, water reuse solutions, energy-efficient pumps, and smart automation systems.
Digitalization plays a key role in pool management. Ethem Erkoç notes: “We view digitalization not merely as an ease-of-control feature but as an engineering tool that optimizes the pool’s entire lifecycle. It allows us to intervene proactively, perform predictive maintenance, and optimize both energy and water consumption.” This ensures long-term performance across both large facilities and smaller projects.
Commenting on the current state of Turkey’s pool industry, Ethem Erkoç says: “Over the past 10–25 years, the Turkish pool industry has undergone a significant transformation. It is no longer just about ‘building a pool’; the focus has shifted toward engineering, sustainability, digitalization, and user experience.” Nadire Erkoç emphasizes the importance of architect–engineer collaboration: “Early integration almost completely prevents potential conflicts later in the project. Architectural freedom is supported as long as it does not compromise operational efficiency.”
In summary, Erkoç–Ospa’s integrated engineering approach guarantees quality, sustainability, and long-term operational performance in modern pool projects. As Ethem Erkoç puts it: “True quality emerges when proper engineering, compliance with standards, energy and water efficiency, digitalization, and sustainable operational culture come together.” This ensures that the pools of the future will be smarter, more efficient, hygienic, and sustainable, and Erkoç–Ospa will continue to play a leading role in design, implementation, and operation.
