We spoke with İbrahim Sayın, Founder of Artsay and Landscape Architect, about site-oriented engineering solutions implemented in Uzbekistan, sustainable projects realized in Turkey, the technical infrastructure of biological systems, smart automation technologies, and the engineering framework behind musical fountain installations.
İbrahim Sayın emphasizes that at Artsay, water is not treated merely as a technical construction element, but as “a powerful design component that defines the character of a space.” In biological ponds, natural swimming pools and fountain projects carried out in Uzbekistan, he explains that engineering solutions are developed in accordance with local climate conditions and site-specific dynamics, prioritizing long-term system sustainability and performance continuity alongside visual impact.
Sayın notes that Artsay’s decision to establish a local branch in Uzbekistan was driven by the goal of maintaining a permanent presence in the regional market, managing projects with closer on-site control, and ensuring continuity in post-completion services. “This approach guarantees the long-term performance and operational safety of the systems we install,” he underlines, highlighting the strategic importance of local structuring.
Regarding projects carried out in Turkey, Sayın states that biological ponds, natural swimming pools, koi ponds and fountain systems are designed as nature-compatible solutions integrated with architecture and landscape design. He describes the biological pond and stream project implemented at Batman Yaşar Kemal Park as “a sustainable public space that operates without chemical use and creates ecological as well as social added value.”
Stressing that water in biological systems should be considered “a living ecosystem rather than a static surface,” İbrahim Sayın explains that systems designed with proper engineering require less maintenance in the long term, while significantly reducing energy and water consumption. He adds that Artsay’s proprietary GOP automation infrastructure enables real-time monitoring of water quality, making maintenance and operation processes more efficient.
Defining musical and choreographed fountain systems as “multi-layered design and engineering projects where water becomes a form of expression,” Sayın notes that in such applications, water is synchronized with music and lighting at millisecond-level precision, transforming it into a powerful stage element that gives identity to a space. Among Artsay’s 2026 goals are strengthening its engineering and design capabilities on a global scale through smart automation systems, environmentally compatible biological solutions, and highly energy-efficient water structures.
